Dr. Herford is currently Professor, Chair and Program Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, Loma Linda University Medical Center; Head, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, Loma Linda University; and Director, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Surgery at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Herford received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and went on to complete a 6-year program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Parkland Hospital in Dallas Texas. He also earned his MD from the University of Texas at Dallas Southwestern Medical School.

Dr. Herford serves on numerous committees and Boards. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Oral Biology as well as the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and will ascend to the Presidency of ABOMS. He currently is the immediate past president of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS). Dr. Herford has a strong interest in trauma and currently serves as a Director of the North American Craniomaxillofacial Trauma Education Council (NACMF).
