SROMS founded in 1992, by Dr. Douglas P. Sinn, then Professor and Chairman of OMFS at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Felice O’Ryan was a co-founder and together they put together the initial issues. The help of many authors and review editors was utilized to make the publication what it is today.

From the beginning, the intent has been review timely subjects on current issues in the specialty of OMFS. The issues include an extensive literature review, a monograph with necessary illustrations and a current text review of the subject with important conclusions. It is to serve as a complete update review for practitioners and residents. It is also intended as a review source of reference.

Effective January 1, 2016, Dr. Douglas Sinn and Diane Sinn resigned as President and Vice President/Secretary-Treasurer of Selected Readings in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Dr. Paul S. Tiwana became the new President and Editor-in-Chief, and Dr. Karen Tiwana became the new Vice President/Secretary-Treasurer.

“I am honored to have been chosen to become the Editor-in-Chief of Selected Readings in OMS. SROMS has been an invaluable resource for the student, resident, and practitioner in the Specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for decades. The rapid progression of new knowledge and procedures in the specialty demand a cutting edge and timely journal, which SROMS aims to be now and in the future.”
